Last week I asked for some help on this whole blogging thing, and boy did I get it.
First up, thanks for all the comments. Really, really. Comments are how I know real, live human beings are showing up every day and not just two hundred scammers trying to sell fake watches and cheap pharmaceuticals. It really makes a huge difference. More on that next week…
Actually, more on everything next week. Today I just want to respond directly to a few of last week’s comments. I’d love to respond to every single one of them, but to be honest, I’m basically a very lazy person.
Anne said, “If you force yourself to blog each day, your blog will feel forced.” And that will probably become more and more evident. On a different topic I’m embarrassed it took me about twenty minutes to figure out the Debbie Downer reference. I kept thinking where have I heard that line before?! Duhhh…
Sancho, et al suggested guest posters to take off the heat. Sounds like we have some volunteers! To be honest, though, I doubt BTTF will ever have guest posts. (Ne dit jamais jamais) The primary reason for this is that the primary reason for this blog is to showcase my mad writing skillz. (At least that’s the goal. Doesn’t actually always work out like that.)
Amy C. Yes, you can have two votes.
Loki wrote, “But if you do take that break, please please please come back to us! Your journey is inspiring and has reinvigorated my personal weight loss goals.” Wow. And here I was thinking I was just being a goofball. Roni privately said the same thing to me once, that I was this kind of blogger whether I personally believed I was or not. I guess I believe it now.
Joe knows what the voices in my head sound like. That’s spooky.
Tuscany mentioned, “Just cos people dont comment it doesnt mean they dont read.” I agree. But like I said, it sure helps. 🙂
Quix. Bored at work? Bored at work? I thought you said you worked in the MMO industry?
Suzie sounds like my newest reader. You read every single post? Sounds like you might even be in the running for president of my fan club. That used to be Megan. (Do you still stop by sometimes, Megan?) It’s interesting the way the blog audience dynamic constantly changes.
So thanks again for all the words. Tune in next week for the conclusion of this riveting three-part episode.

Thanks for the shout out! I just want you to know that I have been encouraged by your blog and have begun creating my own charts and graphs 🙂 Keep up the good work

Just checking if commenting on the comments is redundant?
on May 28, 2009 at 7:40 am
Not at all. But if I comment on the comment on the comments, then I believe that is.

Oh, and Tom you need to fix your email address. The cookie has remembered a misspelling and I occasionally go back and change it for you, so your gravitar shows up. 🙂

Thanks Charlie. I see now where I left off the “e”

In the interest of coming out of hiding, I’ve been reading your blog for a few weeks now and I absolutely LOVE it. You are consistently one of my favorite parts of the morning. =)

I am still here Charlie…I have crawled out from under all my business and am ready to return to my fan club president position…can I reclaim it!
Thanks for the comments on my blog.

Just wanted to add my comment to the comments! I hate to feel left out!

I thought as your prettier sister I was the President of the Fan Club?

Sorry, but you’re way behind on your dues, Biz.

Today was like dropping in the middle of the conversation, but I can relate to people not reading. I know there are a couple faithful readers on my blog. Other than that I could still be lost in cyberspace not knowing if or where I’ll wind up. Glad you got the feedback, and I’m sorry I wasn’t one of those fine people. It was never intentional.

I’m reading and not commenting today………..
oooops!! Forgot…….

There are very exciting parts of my job, yeah, and I love being in the industry. But there are also parts where I sit for a while, waiting for a tool to load up the newest data, and I can’t do much else but surf. It’s like the programmer’s version of the “I’m compiling” excuse… 🙂

ok… GOT to do it… You know I do…
nanny nanny poo poo! Stick your head in doo doo!
Maybe next time you’ll believe me. ;~)

I love reading your blog. You make me laugh!! I wish I could visit more, but I stop by every once in a while, catch up on the posts I missed, and get my giggles. When everyone is so “heavy” with weight loss issues and problems and the blahs, you keep it light… no pun[s] intended.

I’ve opted to stop reading your blog because you didn’t get my Debbie Downer reference…which was, in fact, a reference to YOUR comment in your post. But you know that by now.
All I’m saying is, I hope your writing mojo comes back soon.

I know! Once I realized it, I was like, “Duuuuuh, I’m the one who brought it up in the first place.” Sheesh.

Just stopping in to let you know you’re certainly appreciated! I’ve only commented a time or two … but both you and Roni are “must reads” for me!
Do what you have to do … I’ll appreciate every tidbit that comes my way. =)

First? Yeah, thanks to everybody using and re-using the Debbie Downer references. I like that almost as much as any play on Debbie Does Fill-in-the-blank.
Truth be told I am a weekly digest reader rather than a daily drop inner. I do tend to comment on the most current post of the digest but maybe that is not enough to make blogger ends meet.
I am pretending I am not really TRYING to lose weight so I can NOT allow myself to read your blog every day. See the logic there? Otherwise I say please yourself. Write when you feel it only please keep sending out the newsletter thingies so I can maintain my pretense I am just a reader and not a dieter. Kay? Thanks!
