Okay. This is three weeks in a row now where I’ve started the week low, gone up for a few days, then come back down to where I started. In fact, last week was nearly identical to Week 11. Check this out:
The week’s start and end points are identical to the prior week. The only good thing is that Thursday and Friday were lower than before. Thus, invoking the mighty Law of Averages, I technically come in at a loss for the week. But I don’t feel it. Not when I keep starting each week at 216.5 and ending it at 216. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Week 12 | |
Starting Weight | 233.0 |
Current Weight | 217.2 |
Change from Last Week | -0.4 |
Lost So Far | 15.8 |
Pounds To Go | 18.2 |
There’s no mystery about what’s going on: the daily caloric intake is creeping up. Nothing severe (or I wouldn’t still be at 216 by week’s end) but I am starting to get that old feeling again. That feeling of, “Oh, this one extra bite won’t matter” when I know that’s the beginning of a slippery slope lined with all sorts of tasty bad stuff. If this were, say, April, I wouldn’t be so worried. But looking at the next few scheduled stops on this train’s schedule, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t worried.
But I’m not giving up just yet. I just have to watch it. I think I saw a Slippery Slope Detector in the Sunday Best Buy ad. I think I’ll pick one up tomorrow.
p.s. Sorry for the short post. Still spending most (er, all) of my free time writing. I’ve now added 30,281 words to the manuscript in the first seven days of November. And Saturday was a very light day to boot.

Hey Charlie
Wow, is it week 12 already?
My scale is stuck 🙁 My average for the last month is poor. I need to stop drinking on the weekends again. I’m really very good with my calories and exercise during the week, and then the weekend hits and Arghhhhhhhh!
We know the problem, lets get a grip!!
We SHALL lose 1lb this week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anna 🙂

I decided to wait one more week before weighing in – it will be the end of the second week of Phase I on South Beach.
I think I’ve lost weight – hoping next Monday’s number shows my hard work!

It is dicey getting close to the Holidays. I am going to do the exact opposite of what I’ve done in the past and try to exercise every single day so that I’m not up 10 pounds by January!!
Great job on the writing though!
And I love how Biz put your prettier sister, no I am the prettier one!

You’ll do it Charlie, I know you will. It’s hard. That darn scale for me didn’t more for 5 weeks, it stayed put and I almost gave up, just about threw in the towel but because of you and everyone else I kept at it and finally that darn scale is moving again. Hopefully it keeps it up and stay on this train never to get back off.
Keep up the great work Charlie. Look how far you’ve come, you’ve done wonderfully. Take care and God Bless!!
