The most interesting thing about Week 17 is that every day’s weight came in either at or below the previous day’s weight, making for a nice (albeit gentle) downward slope:
I’ll take that over the giant “spike to 219” any week. Not to mention, given the fact that we’re still in the holidays (you know, those fifty-two weeks between New Years Day and New Years Eve), this kind of chart should make me one of those ten lords a-leaping.
So there you have it: I experienced an absolute drop of two pounds during the week, and an average drop of 0.4 pounds.
Week 17 | |
Starting Weight | 233.0 |
Current Weight | 216.9 |
Change from Last Week | -0.4 |
Lost So Far | 16.1 |
Pounds To Go | 17.9 |
So that’s the good news. The bad news is, the very next day I went up two pounds again, which you’ll see on next week’s post. In fact, as I write this on the following Wednesday, Week 18 has already gone 218, 218, 217.5, . . . something remarkably similar to last week. Which, if I think about it, is good news too, since last week was a good week, with that aforementioned gentle slope and all. But that’s also the bad news, because I’m tired of having the same week over and over and over. Here it is mid-December, and I’m still where I was mid-October.
Which, I suppose, is good news, because I could be ten or fifteen pounds up. (It’s not like that’s never happened before.) But the bad news is, I’m not through this yet. The good news though, is there’s only 19 days until January 3. So I may just come through this unscathed. But the bad news is, come then, I’ll probably still be in this slump—and a most uninspiring conductor on this train back to Onederland. Of course, the good news is that nothing does a diet good like incrementing the year on the calendar. So there’s hope yet!
And how’s your news? Good or bad?

Isn’t that funny how it takes an entire week to go down 2 lbs. but one night to go up 2 lbs? Hopefully it was just an odd spike. Slow and steady and you’ll get there!! Keep it up!

I suppose “funny” is one word for it! That’s the worst.

I hate the scale. I wish we could skip that part. If there was some other way to figure stuff out.
1 lb, 2 lbs gone is better then up, so let’s just figure the other is a fluke and your next weigh in is excellent.
You’re just about 1/2 to your goal. YEAH!!! Charlie. Keep it up, you’re getting there.
Take care and have a blessed night sleep.

Hey Charlie
I’m the same as you. Been static on 15lbs loss for weeks. But then I know I haven’t given it my all. I’m good during the week and let go weekends. I’m on holiday now, in sunny Lanzarote (Canary Islands) and have vowed to swim and walk beaches for 3 weeks. But I’ve also eaten pizza and ice cream :/ And then I tripped over a protrusion in the road and split my toe open….arghhhh!
So, the point is, I empathise with the whole static thing but feel that its much, much, MUCH better than putting any weight back on. If I get home on the 6th of Jan the same weight I’ll be over the moon. Then January is going to be back to 100% commitment to the cause/train!
The 15lb battle has been won!! The war is yet to start……
Happy xmas! 😉

We can’t control how quickly we’ll lose – 1lbs, 2 lbs or 6lbs are still weight off our bodies! Well done!

Well, I am anxious to see how my first week on WW goes. It feels like I am eating a ton of food, but I have counted every point, even the wine, and I still have flex points left so hopefully that will show up on the scale.
I’ve also earned 30 activity points, which I haven’t used, so not sure if that will be bad or not, we’ll see!
Love, your prettier sister, Biz

If you don’t use those points, you might be able to sell them on eBay.

Yep, I’m there with you. I’ve taken off 1 lb this month so far. On one hand, 1 lb is frustrating because I want to make more progress, but on the other hand, it’s the holidays and I’m not gaining. So cheers to us doing the slow and steady thing…
